BYD has introduced its groundbreaking Super e-Platform, marking a significant milestone in the EV industry. The Chinese EV and battery giant’s latest architecture enables ultra-fast charging of up to 1,000 kW, allowing upcoming BYD models to gain 400 km of range in just five minutes.
BYD’s new flash-charge batteries feature a 10C charging multiplier, the highest among mass-produced power batteries. Its 1,000V system, delivering 1,000A of current, enables an unprecedented charging rate—adding 2 km of range every second—making it the fastest charging solution for mainstream EVs.
This next-generation architecture will power future BYD vehicles, allowing batteries to charge up to ten times per hour. To complement this, BYD is deploying a 1,000V-capable charging network across China, ensuring optimal performance for its new platform.
While currently limited to China, this platform sets new benchmarks in charging technology, offering speeds comparable to refueling at a fuel station.
Additionally, BYD has introduced its latest electric motor technology, featuring e-motors capable of spinning at over 30,000 rpm—unmatched in any production vehicle. These motors produce 580 kW with a power density of 16.4 kW/kg and incorporate advanced silicon carbide chips for efficient high-voltage operation.
The first models to feature the Super e-Platform include the BYD Han L sedan and BYD Tang L SUV, with pre-orders now open ahead of their April launch at the Shanghai Auto Show.
In a further breakthrough, BYD is also developing the “Megawatt Flash Charger”, a 1,000 kW supercharger compatible with BYD, Denza, Fangcheng Bao, and Yangwang EVs.
With the Super e-Platform, BYD is addressing one of the biggest concerns among EV buyers—charging time. By making range anxiety obsolete, this technology could accelerate the transition to electric mobility.
